Independent literary publisher
Spoken first.
Then made real.
Avra Press is an independent literary publisher for voices that have too often been written about instead of heard.
What we publish
We publish literary fiction about identity, inheritance, and the places that shape us: the block, the family table, the room where a choice gets made.
Our writers come from communities the industry has underserved. We edit with care, design with intention, and keep every book in print.
Why Avra
“I create as I speak.”
Our name echoes an old Aramaic phrase. Every book begins as something a writer dared to say out loud. We exist for the moment it becomes real.

We read unagented work.
If you're writing the book only you could write, we want to see it.
